Rally obedience courses

Rally obedience is a sport in which drivers and dogs work together to complete a course with signs indicating which tasks must be performed. In this case, rally means that you are your dog’s navigator, guiding it through the course. Rally obedience can be likened to a mixture of everyday obedience, freestyle and agility.

It is a good form of training for young dogs, as obedience is taught in a playful and enjoyable way. This fun form of obedience training has been around in Sweden since 2006 and focuses on contact and responsiveness. When training in rally obedience, you first teach your dog a number of basic commands and then move on to more advanced commands. You then start training your dog to follow a course marked with signs that indicate which command to perform and where to go to reach the next sign. The commands to be performed can include sitting and various types of lying down, turning and walking on heel.

You can train in rally obedience to compete in both easier and advanced obedience in the four different rally classes, or simply take a course with us to benefit from it in everyday life. Both dog and handler must use their brains when training, which deepens their ability to work together. The dog never knows what the next command will be, which trains the dog’s attention span.

At Hundskolorna, we offer a number of different courses in rally obedience.
