The philosophy of the dog schools
The dog schools are centres of expertise in dog training – we have locations in several places in Sweden and are constantly expanding. All our instructors have extensive experience with dogs and solid training – most of them have not only undergone extensive instructor training but also training in dog psychology – feel free to ask your instructor/dog psychologist about their training – we are proud to tell you about them. Several of our instructors and dog psychologists are affiliated with Sveriges Hundföretagare – the trade association for Sweden’s instructors and dog psychologists (formerly IMMI). One of the reasons we started the dog schools is the high demand for individually tailored training and training in small groups.
Many dog owners today don’t just want a dog that ‘walks to heel’; they want to build a relationship, work together and learn more about and with their dog. We want a dog that thinks, shows and feels. The focus is more on doing fun things TOGETHER with your dog than what was perhaps customary in ‘traditional’ obedience training in the past.
Our goal is that EVERYONE – whether you are thinking of buying a dog, are a new dog owner, want to develop as a competition team, want to have fun with your dog or have an older dog – should benefit from the Dog Schools and be able to do fun things with your dog.
We have taken this to heart here at Hundskolorna and tried to adapt our courses and activities so that as many people as possible can develop their relationship with their dog.
Methodology
In the dog world, attitudes and developments have also taken great strides forward over the past decade, with new approaches, ways of thinking and a greater understanding of dogs’ signals. There is now also good research into dog behaviour, which has led to new ways of training dogs.
This is something we have taken on board during our studies, and together with our own and other people’s dogs, we have now found a positive way to train dogs and dog owners.
At Hundskolan, we take into account the natural behaviour of dogs and focus on the relationship between owner and dog, where the needs of both must be met!
We believe in individual training with tips and advice tailored to me and my dog.
Our keywords are Knowledge, Understanding and Cooperation. The more knowledge you gain about dogs and their behaviour, the more you will understand your dog, which in turn will lead to better cooperation!

The dog schools have also developed a Dog School 1-2-3. This is a simple and effective tool that we use in all our activities.
