Before you and your dog are allowed to compete in Nose Work, you and your dog must have passed a scent test for the scent in the class you intend to compete in. The scent test is conducted to ensure that the dog recognises the scent it will be searching for in the competition. The scent test is also intended to enable you, as the handler, to demonstrate that you can read your dog and determine when it has found the scent. An approved scent test follows the dog. You must also take a new scent test in the next scent in order to compete in higher classes.
As the handler, you must be a member of SNWK or another SKK-affiliated county club, special club or recognised foreign kennel club. You must be at least 12 years old. If the handler is under 15 years of age, an adult must accompany them to the scent test area, but not during the scent test itself.
The dog must be at least 10 months old and have a valid vaccination certificate. The dog must be registered or have a TAVLIC (competition licence) in SKK.
Entry fee:
Price: 325 SEK/dog (prize rosette for everyone who passes the test). The entry fee is only payable once you have received confirmation by email that you have been accepted.
